ABLE NH is the result of a year-long intensive multi-organizational planning committee who met to address the long overdue need for a solid and sustainable grass roots community organizing effort that could directly advocate for children and adults with disabilities in New Hampshire. The group was led by, and included, the premier organizations surrounding disabilities in NH, including: the Institute on Disability at UNH, Disabilities Rights Center, NH Council on Developmental Disabilities, Parent Information Center, NH Family Voices, NH Area Agencies, Direct Support Providers, People First, and most importantly parents and self advocates.
Our mission is derived from the critical needs of children and adults with disabilities which led to the four elements of our mission statement to: 1) improve systems of supports and services, 2) connect families to necessary resources to improve their quality of life in their communities, 3) inspire communities to welcome and support all members, and 4) influence public policy.
